How should you design your metabolomics experiment?

Metabolism of different individuals (even of inbred mice), vary heavily. Moreover, the metabolism - specially in blood - is very robust and as a result often only small changes in metabolite levels are found upon a perturbation. Therefore, we need to design our experiment carefully, to be able to detect these small changes.
