The deadline for submission is Monday, 1st June 2009. Notification of successful abstracts - for poster presentations - will be made after 8th June 2009.

  • Files created in Microsoft Word are preferred, but those created with other word processing packages are acceptable provided they are compatible
  • Abstracts should be a maximum of 1 page using Times New Rome 12 and all margins set at 2.54cm and line spacing 1.2
  • Format the title in bold and use an initial capital letter only for the first word and for proper nouns (e.g. The cat called Fred sat on the mat)
  • Do not leave a blank line between the title and the authors’ names
  • Type authors’ names with leading capitals only, giving each author’s initials before the surname (e.g. A. N. Other)
  • Separate names with commas, except for the last name that should be preceded by the word ‘and’ (e.g. A. N. Other and A. N. Other)
  • Format the authors’ address(es) in italics; use lower case except for initial letters of words (e.g. University of Reading etc.). If there is more than organisation, these should be related by superscript numbers; do not place addresses between the names in a list of authors.
  • Leave one blank line below the addresses and start immediately on the next line
  • Do not indent paragraphs but leave a blank line between them
  • Text should be fully justified (right and left)
  • Within the text, references should be cited in chronological order by author name and publication year (Other et al., 2005)
  • The references should be listed at the end of the text in alphabetical order
  • Please give some indication of the variability of results and significance of any differences
  • Do not include tables and figures
