The setup and central management of the NBXs

Each NBX has two dual core AMD Opteron processor units, 4 GB of RAM, a 500 GB RAID1 system and backup hard drive, and a 750GB RAID5 user data hard drive. As operating system, the latest Long Term Support version of Ubuntu is used. The basis is Bio-Linux developed by NEBC. Where possible the systems are accessed using web applications through a Drupal interface.

Machines are kept synchronised and are automatically updated by using a central repository of debian packages from which software is installed on all of the NBXs.
